FAQ
Q: “Cathedral For a While”? What on earth is that?
A: Cathedral For A While was a collective of friends who banded together to promote creativity within their group. After several weeks of meetings and much discussion, it was decided that the group would put on a kind of variety show crossed with a keg party, and began getting the word out. Submissions could come from any quarter, but the ideal subject was anyone who wanted an outlet for their creativity but hadn’t had the chance to share in a while.
There was much brainstorming, and a basic format and lineup was decided upon – performers would present on stage inbetween breaks for drinking and cigarettes. In the end, there were a total of three such shows at the “Yager House”, as it was fondly known. After the third and final show, the residents of the Yager House moved on to other living quarters and other cities, and the first phase of Cathedral For A While was over. Now it is time for all of us to regroup and find a new way to share our creativity with the world. Perhaps we’ll find a new venue to put on shows, or perhaps the collective can live on digitally…
Q: Okay, fair enough, but what’s with the name? Where does that come from?
A: One night we all sat down and played a simple game. Pick up the book of your choice, close your eyes, open the pages at random, and point at a page. Take the first four words next to your finger and you’ve got yourself a title. “Cathedral For A While” is actually taken from a Tom Robbins book, “Skinny Legs and All”.
After all of us had picked several possible names at random, we all went down the list and picked one that seemed the most interesting. There was some dissension, of course, but that is how it should be in any creative pursuit.
Q: Can I see video from the three shows at the Yager House?
A: Why… yes you can! Video from each show is available here on this website. You can view what is currently available at these links: Show #1, Show #2, and Show #3.
Q: What is the story behind the videos from the Summer of All Fears?
A: Strange things happen to a man during the summer.
